The National Royal Republic of Nitramda is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Bahnhof with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 8.654 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Nitramda Royal Capital City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 70%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

The minority party is vilified for everything from fires to earthquakes, there has been a series of riots between local cannibals and health food advocates, airship use has soared while property values beneath their routes have plummeted, and Saturday morning cartoons feature full frontal nudity. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nitramda's national animal is the Penguin, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Podchukian dollar.
