The Kingdom of New Vindola is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Christopher the Great with a fair hand, and remarkable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.356 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Welfare and the Environment are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 73%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

The government has ordered a moratorium on referenda, the nation is ravaged by daily union strikes, New Vindola's soft-touch approach to diplomacy has made it known as the 'push-over' of the region, and the nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields. Crime is totally unknown. New Vindola's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Lueve.
