OverviewPeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Colony of New Tropical Isles is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Jay Myers with an even hand, and notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 4.346 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Commerce, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Shadowville. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Woodchip Exports.

Several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, voting is compulsory, space research funding has hit a recent high while several military bases are being closed down, and schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Tropical Isles's national animal is the cat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Christianity, and its currency is the Platinum Dollar.

New Tropical Isles is ranked 3rd in SideWalk Zone and 38,955th in the world for Most Authoritarian, with 0.678 Stalins.
