The Corperation of New Sckar is a colossal, safe nation, remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5.073 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Eagle Bay. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 87%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Uranium Mining.

The nation's massive battleships are often mistaken for islands, violently opinionated speakers can be heard preaching their hateful views on every street corner, citizens are bombarded with advertising from their compulsory minature radios, and mobile phone masts are being erected all over the country. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Sckar's national animal is the Vulture, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Sckar Bond.
