The Republic of New Prescria is a large, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 62 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Law & Order. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Pizza Delivery, Gambling, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

The colors pink and purple are banned from military unit insignia, military spending is on the increase, shanty towns are forming in the suburbs of major cities, and murderers frequently escape punishment by claiming they were protecting their honour. Crime is a major problem. New Prescria's national animal is the eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.
