It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Monsieurongrad. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 77%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Arms Manufacturing.

The government snoops on private internet connections, the sound of wooden legs echo throughout New Kalohen after the recent introduction of the Foot Tax, birds and children's kites are regularly brought down by anti-aircraft fire, and the nation is famous for having one of the world's largest spotted hootenanny hunting institutions. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Kalohen's national animal is the spotted hootenanny, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is The High Church of Suplex, and its currency is the mcmahon.
