The Matriarchy of New Earternia is a huge, cultured nation, ruled by John Egbert and Karkat Vantas with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 794 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Wind And Shade. The average income tax rate is 78%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Gambling and Tourism.

Protesters are up in arms over new nuclear power stations, consuming ecstasy is a common rite of passage, torture is commonly used to extract information from suspected criminals, and the government has begun breaking all large businesses into thousands of mom-and-pop general stores. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Earternia's national animal is the Eagle, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Boondollar.

New Earternia is ranked 9th in The Skaian Initiative and 18,452nd in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 3 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
