The Tomatoship of New Delfos is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, notable for its anti-smoking policies. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 12.282 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The large, liberal government concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Equality and the Environment are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Delfingrad. The average income tax rate is 14%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

The recently unemployed can often be seen at the local homeless shelter, truth is often impossible to tell from fiction on the evening news, even the most lowly council pen-pusher has the same political power as a senior minister, and half of New Delfos's doctors can't speak the language. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. New Delfos's national animal is the Big Red Tomato, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the tomato.

New Delfos is ranked 67th in Taijitu and 127,582nd in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring -8 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
