The Holy Empire of New Burma is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Leader with a fair hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.186 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 82%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Postmen have been arrested in job lots for selling junk mail as home insulation, anti-government web sites are springing up, the state pays for care of easily preventable illnesses, and the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. New Burma's national animal is the Enchidna, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Kopek.

New Burma is ranked 3,998th in the Pacific and 96,366th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -6 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
