The Republic of New Attica is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.104 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Welfare and Defence are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Crystal Palace. The average income tax rate is 52%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Beef-Based Agriculture.

Crime is on the rise as DNA sampling has been all but outlawed, convicted murderers are free to walk the streets provided they attend rehabilitation classes, teenagers across the country are celebrating the defeat of a national curfew bill, and schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes. Crime is relatively low. New Attica's national animal is the owl, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the buck.
