The Protectorate Organization of NERVUN is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Supreme Commander Ikari Gendou with an even hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 14.966 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tokyo-3. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Beef-Based Agriculture.

NERVUN successfully hosted the GeoFront Olympics, photographers have to apply for a license to photograph Supreme Commander Ikari Gendou, politicians constantly ring their voters to remind them how good a job they're doing, and marketing departments of corporate giants compete to sponsor little league teams. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. NERVUN's national animal is the hotsprings penguin, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the eva.

NERVUN is ranked 17th in GeoFront and 86,673rd in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -48 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
