The Most Serene Republic of Nenanaw is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by His Holy Eye with an iron fist, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 8.793 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt morass -- devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Equality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Nenanaw City. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Foreigners are treated with great suspicion, businesses often fire workers in favour of cheaper automatic systems, morning coffees are no longer the same since the disappearance of newspapers, and the controversial show 'Who Wants to be an Immigrant?' has become wildly popular. Crime is a serious problem. Nenanaw's national animal is the Lamprey, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Eyeism, and its currency is the Biddle.
