The Harmonian Commonwealth of Naughtania is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by President Potter with a fair hand, and renowned for its irreverence towards religion. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 3.029 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Equality and Healthcare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Jerusalem. The average income tax rate is 85%, and even higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, charged suspects often have to wait years before the courts have room to judge their trial, pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government, and same-sex marriages are increasingly common. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Naughtania's national animal is the eagle, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the dinah.

Naughtania is ranked 186th in 10000 Islands and 5,108th in the world for Most Pacifist, scoring 284 on the Lennon-Springsteen Scale.
