The United States of Native Democracy is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Rex Loner with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.504 billion enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Lakota. The average income tax rate is 65%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The Native Democracy Enquirer offers weekly cash prizes for 'most blasphemous song, story, or cartoon', political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations, the government's religious works are headed by a New Age guru, and prisons are crowded with possible terrorist suspects. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Native Democracy's national animal is the Wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Aoen.
