The Republic of Myrensis is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Consul Marcus Dive with an even hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 3.52 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt morass -- juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Saria. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Information Technology, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

Voters must frequently select what they view as the lesser of two evils on the ballot, teams of painters are converting road signs from horse lengths to kilometers, agricultural science is the most competitive subject at Myrensis's universities, and the controversial show 'Who Wants to be an Immigrant?' has become wildly popular. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Myrensis's national animal is the Wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is the Capitoline Triad, and its currency is the Aureus.
