The Hapsburg Reich of Mykola is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Kaiser Franz Josef II with an even hand, and remarkable for its superstitious fear of technology. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 6.653 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Vienna. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 59%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Retail.

Abortions are carried out secretly in shady backstreet clinics, mining is the nation's most dangerous occupation, manual labourers must be willing to have cybernetic limbs to get a job, and the dead are minced up and sold to people in burger form. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Mykola's national animal is the Black Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Mykolan Catholicism , and its currency is the Reichmark.

Mykola is ranked 20th in Tyrrhenia and 91,719th in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -112 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
