Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.91 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Lastilus. The average income tax rate is 97%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Tourism and Arms Manufacturing.

New safety regulations require all cars manufactured in Monlyth to be bombproof, Red Cross demand for body bags is rising while sutures go unused, schoolchildren have twice-weekly sex education classes, and only the rich can afford the latest medical innovations. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Monlyth's national animal is the emperor scorpion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Varuct.

Monlyth is ranked 27th in Taijitu and 46,606th in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring 2 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
