The Federical Federations of Moderium is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by FFLTCINC TJT BAAS with an iron fist, and remarkable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5.485 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Babylon 5. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 70%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Uranium Mining.

Daily newspapers are permitted to run only pro-government stories, conductors wield diamond-encrusted batons to fit in with their freshly gilded surroundings, the populace harbors a fierce hatred of the metric system, and the government regularly hires contractors to construct high rise apartments. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Moderium's national animal is the Fearleam, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Modding, and its currency is the Prestige.

Moderium is ranked 1st in Star Trek and 425th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 56 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
