The Gothic Empire of Milograd is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Dh'arco Rahavuhra Jukill with an iron fist, and remarkable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.756 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, moralistic, pro-business morass -- juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Argyz. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 30%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Soda Sales, Uranium Mining, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

The populace lives in fear of painful execution for minor offences, historical fiction has been banned, political activists are routinely executed, and government popup ads are springing up like weeds. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Milograd's national animal is the Vulture, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Vrykanism, and its currency is the Ravak.

Milograd is ranked 20th in Gholgoth and 3,132nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 22 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
