The Second Sovereign Empire of Mikmodia is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Emperor Ciel d'Mykmacia with an iron fist, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 7.948 billion enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Welfare and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Citadel d'Rois. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 25%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Gambling and Woodchip Exports.

Citizens are regularly found digging for treasure in their gardens, small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants, it's a common sight to see angry commuters with grenade launchers mounted on their vehicles, and billions of Mykmacian unoikos are being blown on orbital weapons development. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Mikmodia's national animal is the Mykmacian bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Mykiiza Legend, and its currency is the Mykmacian unoiko.
