Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.924 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Law & Order, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Salamanca-Vitrayä. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 88%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Book Publishing and Information Technology.

Voting is voluntary, Pinkerton agents are called in to forcibly break up white collar strikes, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and the government recently relinquished its monopoly on the mail service. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Mewsland's national animal is the blanket-fur cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Tali'Zorism, and its currency is the Na'vi-Kardonian purr.

Mewsland is ranked 1st in The Realms of TaliZora and 7,585th in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring 19 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
