The People's Republic of Metropotania is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 2.002 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Metropotania City. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Arms Manufacturing.

Strict term limits have been applied to all elected offices, Animal Liberationists are regularly jailed, ethnic minorities are often refused admission to some of the nation's best schools, and guns are banned. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Metropotania's national animal is the Sheep Dog, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Euro.
