The Anthon Tark Protectorate of Metania is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Anthon Tark with an even hand, and remarkable for its irreverence towards religion. Its hard-nosed population of 16.084 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The small government concentrates mainly on Healthcare, although the Environment and Social Equality are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Eisnaught. The average income tax rate is 20%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government, cheese has been labelled a dangerous weapon and banned, and Armadillos deemed dangerous to the public are shot and hanged by the town hall as a warning to others. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Metania's national animal is the Armadillo, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Worshipers of Tark, and its currency is the Casinopolis Ring.
