The Anthon Tark Protectorate of Metania is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Anthon Tark with a fair hand, and renowned for its happy-go-lucky citizens. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 15.454 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals concentrates mainly on Healthcare, although the Environment and Social Equality are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Eisnaught. Income tax is unheard of. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

All writing must pass a censorship board before being allowed on the shelves, elections have become procedural nightmares due to voters persistently rejecting candidates, armed police units patrol the roads late at night, and cars are banned from built-up areas. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Metania's national animal is the Armadillo, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Worshipers of Tark, and its currency is the Casinopolis Ring.

Metania is ranked 1st in Jul and 7th in the world for Most Rebellious Youth, scoring 497 on the Stark-Dean Displacement Index.
