The Glorious Empire of Meitore is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Emperor Tao-Teke III with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed population of 1.078 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tosheke. The average income tax rate is 69%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Commuter vessels have trouble staying afloat due to increased passengers, cheating spouses are required to undergo job training, the people are famous throughout the region for their bleached-white teeth, and orphanages are closing their doors as the government forces parents to actually raise their children. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Meitore's national animal is the Dragon, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Mei.

Meitore is ranked 4,055th in The East Pacific and 93,223rd in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -5 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
