The Majlis of Mediterreania is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by anarchy with a fair hand, and remarkable for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 4.547 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sea City. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Gambling and Book Publishing.

Government officials frequently cut taxes as a distraction from antics with their secretaries, Max Barry is this year's Miss Mediterreania, the Mediterreania Automotive Racing Series draws millions of spectators annually while those near the tracks complain about the noise, and the children of Mediterreania are often remarked upon for their cheery attitude to extreme violence. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Mediterreania's national animal is the Seagull, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Zoroastrian Catholic Islam, and its currency is the NSD.

Mediterreania is ranked 1,999th in 10000 Islands and 97,982nd in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -7 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
