Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 4.544 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Rome. The average income tax rate is 18%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Gambling.

The latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, all-natural foods are becoming a major fad, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and people are now classified as male, female, or genderqueer. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Masucciania's national animal is the wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Denari.

Masucciania is ranked 127th in the West Pacific and 5,850th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 11 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
