The States Rights Confederacy of Maryginia is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Che Longhorns with a fair hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5.106 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Social Welfare and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Richamore. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Book Publishing and Tourism.

A large percentage of the poor live from cradle to grave in subterranean wage slavery, the government seeks peaceful forum with terrorists, theoretical science is only theoretical, and cheese has become the new icon of political dissent. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Maryginia's national animal is the armadillo, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is the saliva god, and its currency is the confederate dollar.
