The Most Serene Republic of ManekiNekotopia is a huge, cultured nation, renowned for its ban on automobiles. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 908 million are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Gotokuji-ville. The average income tax rate is 76%, and even higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

Euthanasia is legal, prisoners work-share to cut down rising costs of keeping them in jail, large sections of ManekiNekotopia have been named national reserves to protect the native tribes living there, and even the most lowly council pen-pusher has the same political power as a senior minister. Crime is totally unknown. ManekiNekotopia's national animal is the extremely cute and wise kitten, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Golden Anchovy.
