The Neo-Saxon Empire of Makiir is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by High King Diamond II with an iron fist, and notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 4.288 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Urok. The average income tax rate is 97%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Makiir is increasingly belligerent on the international stage, criminals are thrown to the Dingos to repay their debt to society, major cities shut down as their local sports team takes to the field every day, and eminent domain has been abolished. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Makiir's national animal is the Dingo, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Karnism, and its currency is the Coenwulf.

Makiir is ranked 9th in Scandinavia and 3,404th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 21 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
