Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 11.374 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Welfare and Healthcare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Santo Poco. The average income tax rate is 98%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Religious education is a new government priority, traveller camps regularly block five-lane superhighways, all tariffs have been abolished, and the sound of wooden legs echo throughout Little Basses after the recent introduction of the Foot Tax. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Little Basses's national animal is the crosseyed parrot, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the cacao bean.
