The United Provinces of Limburg is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Gouverneur with a fair hand, and notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.309 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Education, although the Environment and Social Welfare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of HasseltMaastricht. The average income tax rate is 45%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Gambling is outlawed, government-run screening operations remove embryos with severe genetic disorders, all prisons have been eliminated, and public nudity is compulsory. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is pervasive, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Limburg's national animal is the Nachtegaal, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Gulden Frank.

Limburg is ranked 2nd in Tongeren and 82,659th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -18 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
