The Free Land of Leeste is a colossal, devout nation, ruled by LEESTE with a fair hand, and notable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.846 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Leeste City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 15%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Gambling.

Voting is voluntary, police officers have nearly cracked a major underage astronomy syndicate, violently opinionated speakers can be heard preaching their hateful views on every street corner, and pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Leeste's national animal is the pig, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the shekel.
