The Free Land of Leeste is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by LEESTE with a fair hand, and notable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.163 billion are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The minute government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Religion & Spirituality, and Education. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Book Publishing and Automobile Manufacturing.

Waste is frequently shipped to other countries, parents are held criminally responsible for their children's crimes, cheese has become the new icon of political dissent, and history classes are mandatory for students. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Leeste's national animal is the pig, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the shekel.
