The Monarchy of Ledarre is a colossal, devout nation, ruled by King James II with an even hand, and renowned for its complete lack of public education. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 6.519 billion are free to succeed or fail in life on their own merits; the successful tend to enjoy an opulent (but moralistic) lifestyle, while the failures can be seen crowding out most jails.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Religion & Spirituality, although Law & Order and Commerce are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ledarra. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 4%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Inheritance tax has recently been abolished, the streets are increasingly clogged with poverty-stricken beggars, trespassers often find themselves impaled by crossbow bolts, and photographers can be found hiding behind the curtains in King James II's bedroom. Crime is a problem. Ledarre's national animal is the German Shepard, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Confucianism, and its currency is the Sterling .
