The Jingoistic Lands of Le Pern is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Leader with an iron fist, and remarkable for its enforced nudity. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 13.874 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The minute, pro-business government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Religion & Spirituality. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 8%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Automobile Manufacturing.

Mining is the nation's most dangerous occupation, the military has had to quell a recent insurrection by uninsured revolutionaries, university graduates and new home-owners toil in labour camps to work off their debts, and citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes. Crime is a major problem. Le Pern's national animal is the dildo, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the jinjo.

Le Pern is ranked 4th in The Vatican City and 129,124th in the world for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring -118 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
