The Kingdom of Lautianos is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Wizard McMagicpants with a fair hand, and notable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.172 billion enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Defence and Public Transport are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Yorchester. The average income tax rate is 68%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Tourism, and Basket Weaving industries.

Religious figures have been banned from public holidays to make them more multicultural, the government is spending millions on alternative clean-burning fuels, citizens are bombarded with advertising from their compulsory minature radios, and space research funding has hit a recent high while several military bases are being closed down. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Lautianos's national animal is the Werebear, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is The Nine Divines, and its currency is the Jin.

Lautianos is ranked 4,511th in the South Pacific and 94,001st in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -4 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
