The People's Republic of Latrinia is a gargantuan, cultured nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, cynical population of 20.395 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Latrinia City. The average income tax rate is 100%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

The country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources, the Ministry of Truthiness now manages the entire media industry, the Federal Council of Latrinia has been announced as the new Head of State, and the populace harbors a fierce hatred of the metric system. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Latrinia's national animal is the norwegian blue parrot, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the waffle cone.
