The Federal Republic of Larkina is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Elected Larkinoid with an even hand, and remarkable for its hatred of cheese. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 4.987 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

The government is avowedly atheist, religious education is a new government priority, radio shows frequently feature people denouncing religion, and glittering new sports stadiums adorn every city and town. Crime is totally unknown. Larkina's national animal is the Lark, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Larkor.
