Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 13.215 billion enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Bizarre-looking creatures called 'Lainsterdogs' dominate wildlife preserves, an increasing percentage of the population's youth have homosexual parents, the nation has become a pariah for giving pirates letters of marque, and houses and businesses are bulldozed to make way for ever-expanding cemeteries. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Lain_land's national animal is the Lainster, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the LainKr.
