The Republic of KooKachoo is a colossal, socially progressive nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 7.405 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of KooKachoo City. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Tourism industry.

The police have been swamped with requests to stay up past bedtime, schools have extensive counseling programs for troubled students, the government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one, and abortions are routinely performed in KooKachoo's hospitals. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. KooKachoo's national animal is the koo koo kachoo, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the cola.
