There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Defence, and Law & Order. Income tax is unheard of. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Uranium Mining.

Women earn less than half the salary of men if they can even find a job, chess hooliganism is on the rise after the banning of organised sports, the government spends millions of gold konars every year prosecuting spammers, and environmental protestors are being rounded up and taken away in sinister black vans as a massive land development campaign gets underway. Crime is a serious problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Konosis's national animal is the bird of prey, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the gold konar.
