The People's Demoratic State of Kohlastan is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 589 million hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There's a shortage of swinging hot spots as land development grinds to a halt, the government is spending millions on alternative clean-burning fuels, inter-species marriages are ignored by the government, and scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kohlastan's national animal is the lyrebird, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the monster cookie.
