It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, the Environment, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Knoxaticus. The average income tax rate is 59%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Tourists are kicked out if they express interest in their national sport, Lions deemed dangerous to the public are shot and hanged by the town hall as a warning to others, the nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields, and homosexuality is a crime punishable by death. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Knoxos Aurelius's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Knox.
