The United Socialist States of Kloogoos is a huge, cultured nation, remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 584 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Social Equality. Citizens wishing to be parents must undertake a series of gruelling tests to evaluate their capabilities, toddlers are wielding machine guns in the name of national defense, abortions are routinely performed in Kloogoos's hospitals, and all-natural foods are becoming a major fad. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kloogoos's national animal is the Yoshi, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Scola.
