The People's Republic of Klausilvania is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by weed with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 2.683 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Social Welfare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ganjatown. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Military funding has been stripped back, government-run screening operations remove embryos with severe genetic disorders, the government helps teach children how to kill a man from six paces, and punitive tariffs protect local industry. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Klausilvania's national animal is the klausfish, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the tits.
