The Semi Agrarian Metropolis of Kiryu-shi is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, notable for its happy-go-lucky citizens. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 14.407 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal individuals juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kasakake. Income tax is unheard of. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume, same-sex marriages are increasingly common, people take government jobs for the frequent flier miles, and almost all of Kiryu-shi's water is piped into the country from abroad for exorbitant prices. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Kiryu-shi's national animal is the monkey, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the coin.

Kiryu-shi is ranked 1st in Atlantian Oceania and 192nd in the world for Most Pacifist, scoring 2,711 on the Lennon-Springsteen Scale.
