The Semi Agrarian Metropolis of Kiryu-shi is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its hatred of cheese. The compassionate, intelligent population of 16.601 billion Kiryu-shians enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

The medium-sized government is mainly concerned with Education, although Social Welfare and Social Equality are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kasakake University. The average income tax rate is 30%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Much of Kiryu-shi's computer network is controlled by a rampant artificial intelligence, all streets are privately owned toll roads, the government is using tax revenues to provide jobs for the poor, and citizens are expected to be proficient in at least five languages. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Kiryu-shi's national animal is the monkey, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Quee, and its currency is the credit.

Kiryu-shi is ranked 5th in Atlantian Oceania and 5,794th in the world for Highest Drug Use, scoring 114 on the Pineapple Fondness Rating.
