The Second Empire of Kiermark is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by High King Kieran III Alarik with an even hand, and remarkable for its national health service. Its hard-nosed population of 17.313 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Education and Social Equality are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kierstadt. The average income tax rate is 70%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Information Technology.

People faint regularly as they get stuck with compulsory vaccinations, the nation's industries are scrambling to switch to biodegradable plastics, the government seizes private property for the 'good of the people', and Kiermark's educational system is the envy of many and regarded as a pinnacle of academic achievement. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kiermark's national animal is the Rook, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Kieric Orthodoxy, and its currency is the Reichsmark.

Kiermark is ranked 73rd in One big Island and 129,302nd in the world for Healthiest Citizens, with -10 Standard Bananas Ingested per capita per day.
