The Desert Nomads of Kicn is a huge, economically powerful nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 611 million are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The enormous, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Vasarak. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 8%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Retail, and Information Technology industries.

Birds and children's kites are regularly brought down by anti-aircraft fire, the government has enacted freedom of information, retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites, and genetic research has been halted. Crime is a problem. Kicn's national animal is the desert rat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Carn.
