The Grand Duchy of Kermit is a huge, devout nation, remarkable for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 635 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Swamp. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 35%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Automobile Manufacturing, and Information Technology industries.

Tesco was recently named as the new national treasurer, electrocution deaths among computer technicians are at an all-time high, fur coats have become the latest fashion trend, and small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants. Crime is a problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Kermit's national animal is the Frog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Ribbit.

Kermit is ranked 106th in the West Pacific and 5,016th in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 6 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
