The Free Republic of Kelanthia is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Gordon Grath with an iron fist, and remarkable for its complete lack of public education. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 16.547 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sarion. The average income tax rate is 95%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Uranium Mining industry.

Psychological disorders are a taboo subject, skateparks can be found in every city, tombstones are ten feet high to accommodate the names of inhabitants, and the government pours millions of standard credits into rehabilitation programs annually. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Kelanthia's national animal is the condor, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is consumerism, and its currency is the standard credit.

Kelanthia is ranked 1st in Marvinic Sphere and 2,331st in the world for Largest Public Sector, scoring 30 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
