The Krasnaya Love of Katyusha is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Comrade Katya with a fair hand, and renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.24 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Katyagrad. The average income tax rate is 76%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

UFO sightings are listed daily in the morning news, Katyusha's educational system is the envy of many and regarded as a pinnacle of academic achievement, programmes of questionable content are shown at peak-hours, and Comrade Katya has just been declared ruler of Katyusha in an international press conference. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Katyusha's national animal is the Bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Love.

Katyusha is ranked 11th in Alliance of Socialist States and 89,671st in the world for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -4 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
